Coastal Engagement Magic: Makenzie & Holden at Jockey’s Ridge and Bodie Island Lighthouse
There’s nothing more exhilarating than escaping to the coast for engagement photos! Jockey’s Ridge has been a dream location of mine for what feels like forever, so when Makenzie asked if we could spend the day there, I immediately said YES!
Jockey’s Ridge
For Makenzie and Holden’s engagement session, we began our adventure at Jockey’s Ridge. We walked about a mile through the dunes, basking in the most beautiful golden sunlight. If you’ve never visited, I highly recommend adding it to your list, especially during golden hour – it’s truly magical.
Bodie Island Lighthouse
After capturing some stunning moments in the dunes, we made our way to Bodie Island Lighthouse. This spot holds a special place in Makenzie’s heart, making it the perfect setting to capture her and Holden in their most comfortable environment. Every shot was a testament to their love and connection, from the iconic lighthouse to the serene observation deck.
We concluded our session at the beach directly across from Bodie’s Lighthouse. It was the perfect wind-down to our evening, with the last rays of golden sunlight, peaceful waves, and the simple joy of searching for seashells and spotting crabs. It was nothing short of perfection.

I absolutely can’t wait for Makenzie and Holden’s wedding in the OBX next October! It’s going to be a beautiful celebration of their love, and I’m honored to be a part of their journey.
